Creatures of the Minnesota Zoo

On July 31, my good friend Michael, who lives in Kansas City right now, came up to Minnesota, and while he was here, he and I took some time to catch up and visit the Minnesota Zoo.

I'm going to do a number of posts about this zoo trip, because I did a lot of drawing there.

First, here is a little collage of all the creatures I sketched at the zoo.
A bigger version of the pics can be seen at my deviantart

Today at MCAD we had a male model for the first time.

Pencil, 60% gray marker, 90% gray marker

I met a friendly guy with a big red beard who studied jazz in the same neighborhood of New York that I studied film in, and he kept talking to me.  At the end a girl with buzz cut came over and said my last drawing was "classy." I love this co-op.

MCAD Life Drawing June 13

To be honest, this session was kind of mediocre.  I felt really bored, like I'd used up all my clever tricks the day before.
